Katrina Ffrench, Independent Scrutiny & Oversight Board member and Founder and Managing Director of UNJUST UK, won the Outstanding Individual Award last week at the CJA Awards 2022.

The win acknowledges Katrina’s work to address discriminatory practices and policies in policing and the criminal justice system. Her recent success includes reform of the Metropolitan Police Gangs Matrix which the force has accepted breached subjects' right to privacy and family life, and exacerbated racial disparity.

Katrina Ffrench, Independent Scrutiny & Oversight Board member and Founder and Managing Director of UNJUST UK, said: “I am thrilled to have won the Outstanding Individual Award at the CJA Awards 2022. I have long admired the individuals and organisations shortlisted for the CJA Awards for their relentless pursuit of a much fairer and effective criminal justice system, so it is a great honour to have been recognised.”

Abimbola Johnson, Chair of the Independent Scrutiny & Oversight Board, said: “We are incredibly proud of Katrina and her Outstanding Individual Award win at the CJA Awards 2022. The criminal justice system regularly fails those it has been entrusted to protect and serve, so the work of individuals like Katrina continues to be crucial in creating better outcomes for all.”

The CJA Awards, by the Criminal Justice Alliance, celebrate the outstanding individuals, organisations and journalists/broadcasters working to make the criminal justice system fairer and more effective.
